Assign and manage apps for Meta Quest devices in Shared Mode

This article is only applicable to admins who manage Meta Quest devices in Admin Center. If you use a third-party device manager then that’s where you manage apps.
When you create a Shared Mode device preset or configure a device independently in Shared Mode, you can assign apps.
You need to add apps from APK files and third-party apps to Admin Center before you can assign them to devices.
Note: If an account is required to use the Shared Mode device, then you can assign third-party apps and apps from APK files. If an account is not required to use the Shared Mode device, then you can only add apps from APK files.
Manage apps for Shared Mode devices and device presets
Changes made to an independently configured device apply to that device only. Changes made to a device preset are applied to all devices that the device preset is assigned to.
To manage apps for a Shared Mode device or device preset:
  1. Go to Devices in Admin Center.
  2. Then:
    • If you’re managing apps for an independently configured device, click the name of the device.
    • If you’re managing apps for a device preset, click Device presets in the left menu then click the name of the device preset.
  3. Click the Apps tab.
  4. From here, you can:
    • Click either Assign apps or Manage apps, then select Assign required apps. Search for the app and click on its name when it appears, then click Assign.
    • Click to the right of the app then click Remove.
Apps are scanned for compatibility with Shared Mode. There will be a notice informing you of compatibility. If you add an incompatible app to a Shared Mode device, the app may not function properly.
