Change requirement for people to log in to a Shared Mode device on your organization’s Meta Quest devices
This article is only applicable to admins with relevant permissions.
When you create a Shared Mode device preset or configure a device independently in Shared Mode, you choose whether an account is required to use the device. If you choose to require an account, anyone using the device will have to log in with a managed Meta account. Requiring an account makes it possible to assign apps from the Meta Horizon Store to Shared Mode devices.
Changing this setting later requires a factory reset of devices. You also can’t edit this setting directly.

Changing this setting for a Shared Mode device preset
You cannot change a device preset’s device mode from Shared Mode to Individual Mode, then back to Shared Mode to change the setting this way. Instead, you may need to create a new Shared Mode device preset with your preferred account requirement setting and assign it to the same devices.
If a device is configured by multiple device presets and any of them require an account to use the device, then an account will be required to use the device – so you may also need to remove the previous device preset’s assignments. Learn more about what happens when multiple presets with conflicting settings are assigned to the same device.
