You can customize the optional intro steps that people complete when starting a Shared Mode session on your organization’s Meta Quest devices:
- Click
Devices in the left menu of Admin Center.
- Then:
- If you’re customizing intro steps for a device configured independently in Shared Mode, then click the name of the device.
- If you’re customizing intro steps for a Shared Mode device preset, then click
Device presets and click the name of the device preset.
- Click the Device experience tab.
- Click Session intro.
- Select whether you want people to start sessions with controllers or their hands.
- Use the toggles to choose which further optional steps you want to turn on or off. Optional steps include:
- Wake controllers: Ask the user to confirm that controllers are connected. This is not available if people start sessions with their hands.
- Adjust device fit: Guide the user through fitting the device properly.
- Launch tutorial: Enable controller tutorial in session intro to teach users how to open the app library. This is not available if people start sessions with their hands.
- Launch hand tutorial: Enable hand tutorial in session intro to teach users how to use hand tracking in VR. This is not available if people start sessions with controllers.
- Click Save.
After people complete intro steps, they choose which app to open from those you’ve assigned unless you’ve selected a single-app experience.
Required steps
As well as the optional intro steps you choose, people using a device in Shared Mode will need to acknowledge health and safety warnings and agree to the Terms of Service. They may also need to create a boundary, unless stationary boundary is turned on.
If apps require hand and body tracking, and/or eye tracking, people will be asked whether to enable this and acknowledge the privacy policy.
