Select the login method for managed Meta accounts in your organization
This article is only applicable to admins with relevant permissions.
By default, if a person’s managed Meta account uses a domain that’s included in your SSO settings, then the person will log in with SSO. If not, then they will log in with a password.
However, you can change an account’s authentication method to either:
- Password only: This user will always use a password to log in, even if SSO is enabled.
- Single sign-on preferred: SSO will be used when available. Otherwise, this user will log in with a password instead.
Note: If your accounts are synced with an identity provider, then any changes you make may be overwritten.
Change an individual’s login method
- Go to Directory in Admin Center.
- Click to the right of the account, then select Edit person’s details.
- Click Edit next to Authentication method.
- Select Password only or Single sign-on preferred, then click Save.
Change login methods in bulk
- Go to Directory in Admin Center.
- Click in the top right, then select Edit multiple accounts.
- Click Export information. You will receive an email with an XLSX file containing people’s information.

Require two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication cannot be used by people who log in using SSO.
