This article is only applicable to admins with relevant permissions. If you are a developer, learn how to develop and share Meta Quest private apps.
When you invite developers to upload and share private apps, it means developers can upload apps to Meta Quest Developer Center and share them directly to your Admin Center. You can assign these apps to Individual Mode and Shared Mode devices.
Inviting developers to share private apps does not give the developers access to your Admin Center.
Alternatively, you can add an app from an APK file yourself. You can also add available third-party apps in Admin Center.
Private apps do not undergo formal review by Meta. All private apps distributed through a business channel must comply with applicable Meta terms and policies (including the best practices included in the Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences), and Meta reserves the right to take action if they do not comply. Review the Private App Policies page for more details.
You can view tips and best practices for content moderation in the Trusted Developer Essentials course and learn more about how to build trusted experiences for apps.
Invite a developer to upload and share private apps
  1. Click Apps & content in the left menu of Admin Center, then Invite developer in the sub-menu and click Send email.
  2. Enter the developer’s email address.
  3. Choose whether to share your organization key at the same time. This will be sent in a separate email. Developers need your organization key to be able to share private apps to your Admin Center.
    • You can also choose to do this at another time, by clicking Apps & content in the left menu of Admin Center, selecting Invite developer in the sub-menu, then clicking Share key.

You can copy this organization key and share it with your developer.
  4. Click Send.
Developers can enter your organization key on the Meta Quest Developer Center to verify your invitation and then share private apps to your Admin Center.
Accept a private app invite from a developer
When a developer shares an app to your Admin Center, you have to accept it. To do this:
  1. Click on your notifications in Admin Center.
    • You can also click Apps & content in the left menu of Admin Center, then at the top of Manage apps you'll find pending invitations.
  2. Click on the invite notification to preview details of the app shared.
  3. Click Add to accept the invitation.
    • Any apps you add to Admin Center will be scanned for compatibility with Shared Mode. There will be a notice informing you of compatibility. If you add an app that’s incompatible with Shared Mode to a Shared Mode device, the app may not function properly.
