Enable or disable social features for Meta Quest devices

If you’re an admin, then you can enable or disable social features for Meta Quest devices in Individual Mode. You can do this for:
  • Devices configured independently, so that the setting is applied to this device only
  • Device presets, so that the setting is applied to all devices configured by this device preset
The below instructions cover how to enable or disable social features for devices that are managed in Admin Center. If you manage devices with either Ivanti Neurons for MDM or Workspace ONE UEM, then you can download and use Meta’s OEMConfigs APK to manage access to social features.
Edit access to social features
To edit acces to social features:
  1. Click Devices Devices in the left menu of Admin Center.
  2. Then:
    • If you’re editing access for an independently configured device, then click the name of the device.
    • If you’re editing access for a device preset, then click Device presets in the Devices menu and then click the name of the device preset.
  3. In the Details tab, click to the right of Device permissions.
  4. Use the toggle next to Allow access to Meta social features and interactions on managed accounts to turn this permission on or off.
  5. Click Save.
What are social features?
Social features include:
  • Horizon Worlds app
  • People App
  • Parties
  • Messaging
  • Searching for people in or outside of your organization
If social features are enabled, then people can interact with people in and outside your organization.
If social features are disabled, then people will not have access to social features. If a managed Meta account has existing followers, these will be retained but interaction with people will be blocked. If someone logs into the Meta Quest Link PC app with their managed Meta account, then they won’t be able to access social features in the app either.
Even if social features are disabled, people will still be able to use third-party apps that have multiplayer experiences and report other users in those apps.
