Create a Shared Mode device profile for Meta Quest for Business

Shared Mode is not available for devices connected to a third-party device manager.
Shared Mode is a paid add-on for Meta Quest for Business that can be useful for training or demonstration purposes. People have to be 13 years of age or older (subject to applicable legal requirements where you reside) to use a Meta Quest for Business device in Shared Mode.
A Shared Mode device can be used by multiple people who don’t need to log in with either a managed Meta account or Meta Horizon profile. People who are using a Meta Quest device in Shared Mode will only be able to use apps that have been added by an admin to the Shared Mode device or device profile.
Your organization may allow users 13 years or older (subject to applicable legal requirements where you reside) to use devices in Shared Mode. Ensure you choose apps that are appropriate for anyone who may use the device in Shared Mode. In addition, parents or legal guardians of people aged 13 years or older should be provided with parent information about user readiness and health and safety information.
This article covers how to create a Shared Mode device profile to apply to multiple Meta Quest devices. You can also configure devices independently in Shared Mode.
Create a Shared Mode device profile
  1. Click Devices Devices in the left menu of Admin Center.
  2. Click Device profiles in the left menu.
  3. Click New device profile in the top right, then select Shared Mode.
  4. Enter a name for the device profile.
  5. If you want all new devices connected to your organization to have the same device profile, then click the checkbox next to Set as default device profile.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Select device permissions, then click Continue.
  8. Read the notice, then click Create.
You can change or remove device profiles after you have created them.
Apply a Shared Mode device profile to a device
You can apply a Shared Mode device profile if you choose to enroll a device before it’s logged into with a managed Meta account. You can also apply a Shared Mode device profile to a device that’s already in Admin Center.
If devices are configured in Shared Mode, then the following will be removed from the devices:
  • Managed Meta accounts connected during setup
  • Horizon profiles
  • The Horizon Workrooms app
  • Any apps and games from the Meta Quest Store
