Change security settings for Meta Quest devices in Admin Center
Admins can only change security settings for Meta Quest devices that are managed in Admin Center. Admins cannot change security settings for Meta Quest devices that are managed by a third-party device manager.
You can edit device security settings for Meta Quest for Business devices in Admin Center.
If a device is configured independently, then you change its security settings on a device-by-device basis. If a device is configured by a Shared Mode device preset, then you make changes to the device preset.
Change security settings for Meta Quest for Business devices
- Click Devices in the left menu of Admin Center.
- Then:
- If you’re changing security settings for a device that’s configured independently, click the name of the device.
- If you’re changing security settings for a device preset, then click Device presets in the left menu then click the name of the device preset.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Make your changes in the Security settings section.
- Click Save.
Device security settings you can change
- Device passcode (for Individual Mode devices or device presets only): Choose whether a passcode is required to unlock devices. If you turn this on, then you choose other passcode settings, including the number of allowed failed passcode attempts until the device wipes.
- Session passcode (for Shared Mode devices or device presets only): Choose whether a session passcode is needed to unlock devices. If you turn this on, then you choose the passcode complexity. If you’ve required people to log into the Shared Mode device using a managed Meta account, then session passcodes are required. If a Shared Mode device does not require a passcode, then sessions on the device will end if there’s no activity for longer than 15 minutes.
- USB debugging: Choose whether to enable all debugging features, including USB debugging.
- OS updates: Choose how and when you want system updates to be installed on devices. Options include:
- Default: System updates are installed following the device’s default settings.
- Automatic: System updates are installed as soon as they’re available.
- Windowed: System updates are installed during a daily maintenance window. If you choose this option, then you can set the start and end times.
- Postponed: System updates are installed 30 days after they become available.
